On October 28, 1980, Tucson Police Motor Officer James A. Smith died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle collision in Midtown Tucson. In honor of Officer Smith, police officers throughout Tucson are wearing mourning bands across their badges. They are also remembering Officer Headricks today.
