USS Tucson Crew Visits Hometown, Engages in Events
Staff Report / Tucsonlocal.org
This week, a six-member crew from the USS Tucson (SSN-770) visited Tucson, Arizona, the city after which their submarine is named. The crew participated in various local events, including attending University of Arizona basketball and Roadrunners hockey games.
They also toured notable local businesses, including Sargent Aerospace and Raytheon, and played golf during their visit. As part of their experience, the Tucson Fire Department provided the crew with a hands-on Flashover training session at the Public Safety Academy, where they were exposed to temperatures of 500 degrees Fahrenheit and learned about interior firefighting techniques. A different crew from the USS Tucson visits Tucson every other year.
