Authorities Remember Sergeant Blaser, Fallen in Tucson.

Today, authorities remember Sergeant John Blaser (#2916) of the Arizona Department of Public Safety. On August 31, 1990, Sergeant Blaser was struck by a drunk driver while investigating a previous collision on US 89 in Tucson. Sergeant Blaser and Officer David Gabrielli were both hit from behind by the driver as they stood in the median. After being transported to the hospital, Sergeant Blaser succumbed to his injuries. The driver was later convicted of manslaughter and reckless endangerment.
