Tempe High-Rise Blaze Contained, 30 Displaced
Tempe Fire Medical Rescue crews responded to a report of a high-rise fire on the 16th floor at 704 S. Myrtle Ave in Tempe tonight. The fire was contained to one apartment thanks to the building’s fire suppression system, which held the fire in check until crews arrived. There were no injuries to people or pets.
Water damage from the incident affected multiple floors, and approximately 30 residents will be displaced. Building management is working to secure alternative housing for those affected. Firefighters from Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Guadalupe assisted with locating and extinguishing the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Tempe Fire Medical Rescue investigators.
