Mayor Nancy Smith said she has just finished participating in the Maricopa Association of Government (MAG) Regional Council meeting, which includes Maricopa County cities and the county, as well as some Pinal County cities and the county.

Smith said that SR 347 receives $90 million for the Maricopa County portion of the project from MAG.

She said Vice Mayor Manfredi serves on the MAG Transportation Committee and worked with the committee to move the $90 million scheduled for 2030 to 2027 to align with the rest of the project.

In the meeting, Smith said Manfredi had to be reappointed to the Transportation Committee. She said he was unanimously approved and reappointed.

Smith added that the committee seats do not transfer to the next city of Maricopa council member, and said other cities want to serve on the committee. She said she was “delighted” that the City of Maricopa and Vice Mayor Manfredi were approved and reappointed, and congratulated Manfredi.
