Community Unites for Hope and Healing Together

Staff Report / Tucsonlocal.org

On October 7, over 1,000 people gathered in Southern Arizona for an event titled "With Broken Hearts, and Heads Held High" to honor the events occurring in Israel. The gathering included guest speakers and a musical performance by Micha Biton, a survivor of the October 7 events. Participants reflected on a challenging year and expressed hope for the safe return of 101 hostages still in captivity.

The Tucson Jewish Community Center (JCC) recently announced a new fitness program, AquaFit, specifically designed for individuals with mild-stage Dementia. This is part of a broader initiative to expand fitness offerings for adults at various stages of life.

During fall break, children participated in the School Days Out program at the JCC. Activities included art projects where they created their own fall-themed artwork, a cooking class where they made honey cake to break their Yom Kippur fast, and field trips to places such as Rooster Cogburn Ranch, Wild Catz, and the Flandrau Science Center + Planetarium.

As the community observes the Yom Kippur holiday and prepares for Sukkot, the JCC encourages members to enjoy this holiday season together.
